The Karaoke challenge, a live weekly competition hosted by Cody-Ann Palmer, 
is live this Wednesday (and every Wednesday) May 16th at 4pm EST on YouNow/karaoke (9pm in the UK).
Contestants log into Younow via Facebook and sing their hearts out, for the fun of it and the opportunity to win actual gifts and prizes.
SOME NEW RULES!!
Before you sing your song, you MUST:
INTRODUCE YOURSELF.
INTRODUCE THE SONG AND WHO BY.
If you do not follow this new rule, you will be sent into the Younow jail! (And you don’t want that to happen)

If you just can’t wait for the Karaoke challenge, you can participate in the Extra Credit challenge presented by James Jones as well.
This week, the extra credit challenge is DEDICATIONS. Dedicate a song to anyone e.g. Family members, Friends, Pets etc. The extra credit challenge will take place an hour before the scheduled karaoke time and the winner will receive 9,000 YouNow Coins. (Just enough to throw someone in jail)

What are the rules of Karaoke?
- For two hours, each broadcaster is allowed to sing 1 song per broadcast, however you can get back in the queue as often as possible.
Do I need to have background music?
- By definition, Karaoke songs have an instrumental backing track, having musical accompaniment is highly encouraged, however a cappella is also acceptable.
- Check out these free backing tracks from the karaoke channel on youtube.
What if I get voted off before my song is over?
- Each broadcaster is guaranteed 2 mins, if you are voted off after the two minutes, get back in the queue and try again.

YouNow’s May Rewards Program
Mark your calendars because starting May 1st YouNow will begin the new Reward Program! Things are a little different so pay attention. Also, those of you who are viewers and don’t broadcast often can win prizes!
Starting May 1st until May 31 (or until supplies last) all of you guys will be able to get your hands on some new rewards!
HOW DO I EARN REWARDS?
In May we will reward you for recruiting new users. What exactly does that mean? Let me break it down for you.
We reward users that recruit new registered users to the YouNow community DURING THE MONTH OF MAY. The concept is easy - the more NEW users you refer to YouNow AND who BECOME YOUNOW MEMBERS the more rewards you get!
There are 2 ways to recruit new users:
1. While broadcasting: Any new user that comes to the site and registers during your broadcast is automatically credited to you as a recruit, whether you invited them or not! So the more you broadcast and spread the word, the more recruits you gain.
2. By sharing and inviting users: Every time you post a link using the “Share” button, (by tweeting, publishing a link to a YouNow broadcast or profile page via Facebook, etc.) it contains a unique reference to you as the originator of the link. This unique URL gives you credit for every time a new user comes to the site and becomes a YouNow member through the link you’ve shared.
You will be able to view the number of new recruits gained at any time in your “My Stats” page:
The number of recruits gained will also be displayed at the end of each broadcast.
And you can easily find out how many recruits you earned in between sessions in your inbox.
Additionally, the total number of recruits a user has gained will appear in the area below the video screen every 2 minutes.

Dance Off Rules:
- Those competing in the Dance Off will have one hour to strut their stuff!
