- Search: now finding your favorite broadcasters is much easier. Simply type their name in the search bar at the top of the screen
- Snapshot: Have you ever wished there were an easier way to capture that crazy screenshot of your friends doing the cinnamon challenge?
Now you can take a snapshot of a broadcaster LIVE on YouNow, and easily share to Twitter or Facebook, or download to your desktop!
…AND each person that signs up for YouNow through the snapshot link you shared will be credited as a recruit for you!

YouNow’s May Rewards Program
Mark your calendars because starting May 1st YouNow will begin the new Reward Program! Things are a little different so pay attention. Also, those of you who are viewers and don’t broadcast often can win prizes!
Starting May 1st until May 31 (or until supplies last) all of you guys will be able to get your hands on some new rewards!
HOW DO I EARN REWARDS?
In May we will reward you for recruiting new users. What exactly does that mean? Let me break it down for you.
We reward users that recruit new registered users to the YouNow community DURING THE MONTH OF MAY. The concept is easy - the more NEW users you refer to YouNow AND who BECOME YOUNOW MEMBERS the more rewards you get!
There are 2 ways to recruit new users:
1. While broadcasting: Any new user that comes to the site and registers during your broadcast is automatically credited to you as a recruit, whether you invited them or not! So the more you broadcast and spread the word, the more recruits you gain.
2. By sharing and inviting users: Every time you post a link using the “Share” button, (by tweeting, publishing a link to a YouNow broadcast or profile page via Facebook, etc.) it contains a unique reference to you as the originator of the link. This unique URL gives you credit for every time a new user comes to the site and becomes a YouNow member through the link you’ve shared.
You will be able to view the number of new recruits gained at any time in your “My Stats” page:
The number of recruits gained will also be displayed at the end of each broadcast.
And you can easily find out how many recruits you earned in between sessions in your inbox.
Additionally, the total number of recruits a user has gained will appear in the area below the video screen every 2 minutes.

New Features on YouNow: Week of April 21st, 2012
- New Broadcaster Introduction Screen: now featuring the social reach of each user.
- New Minimum Broadcast Time (added only for certain channels): Initially, we are launching this only for the music channel. Musicians now are assured they can get a full song as part of their minimal broadcast experience.
- New Channel - DANCE: Drop it like it’s hot, do the “stanky leg” and teach us How To Dougie in YouNow’s exciting new channel!

Been Suspended on YouNow?
Now, most of you know that YouNow is generally a very supportive community. However, there are bad apples sometimes who try to ruin the experience for everyone else by drawing negative attention to themselves and others.
For this reason we have moderators who watch the the site to ensure that users have the best experience possible. When users exhibit behavior that threatens the safety and fun experiences of others, YouNow Moderators will suspend these users. The time of suspension varies based on the severity of the offense.
To avoid being suspended… play nice on YouNow! It’s that simple. :)
YouNow Development Updates
Hi, my name is Erez and I am the CTO of YouNow. As you have noticed since we launched in September, we constantly work to improve and enhance the YouNow experience. Moving forward, I will write a blog post every week or so describing our new product releases.
Here is what is new this week:
- Subscribe to Broadcasters’ YouTube Channels: Broadcasters may now connect their YouTube channels so that viewers may subscribe to them during their broadcasts.
- Facebook and Twitter Beacons: YouNow has become more viral. New users will be announcing YouNow on their wall and fanning will now (every so often) trigger both Twitter and Facebook notices to your friends and followers.
- Camera/Mic Setup page: Is now improved. Testing your camera and mic is now a much quicker process. Do a test recording right there on the setup page to ensure that your Camera and Mic are properly set up.
- First time users now see unique instructional welcome messages.
- Twitter Promotion: New users are now encouraged to authenticate their Twitter account earn a level up and earn coins.
Bug Fixes:
- Earning points to climb levels is enabled
- Fans earned count on users private pages is fixed

Three New YouNow Channels - Gaming, Shows 2 and VIP!
As the YouNow community has continued to grow, our Weekly Program of scheduled content has also grown. In an effort to accomodate YOUR (the community’s) interests, while still allowing for our hosts to broadcast their Weekly Shows, we launched 3 new channels on YouNow today!

The Gaming Channel is a place where gamers can discuss the latest game / tech releases, classic video games or hilarious and quirky Internet humor! Check out Gary Payne showing off his PS3 controller:
The Shows 2 Channel provides another venue for scheduled content, while also creating more opportunities for others to broadcast when no shows are airing. Tony Casillo was our first broadcaster in Shows 2 this morning:
The VIP Channel is a place where broadcasters who have attained Level 13 and up can enter the queue with minimal wait. Danny Tee was our first VIP today:

YouNow’s New Fan Rewards Program
Mark your calendars! Starting April 1st we will launch a new Fan Rewards Program!
YouNow’s Original Fan Rewards Program has ended and it was a huge success. We gave away 70 cameras, 20 new iPhones as well as hundreds of YouNow t-shirts. Congratulations to those who won.
Good news, starting April 1st you guys will be able to get your hands on some new rewards!
The New Fan Rewards program will reward you for NEW FANS earned in APRIL ONLY (not before or after). We will be giving away YouNow Hoodies, Sol Republic Headphones and 7 New iPads, each with the opportunity to install the YouNow Mobile app - all in April!

New Features: Gifts, Coins, Inbox, and Toggle Voting!
Check it out. We are releasing the following on Monday, March 12, 2012:
1. Gifts are Here!
Logged-in users can give broadcasters gifts for being awesome! 
These gifts (which include roses, kisses, coins, bling and more!) cost Coins that can be earned by:
- Broadcasting.
- Active participation on the site - the more time you spend watching, voting and chatting the more Coins you earn.
- Daily logins to YouNow.com.
- AND FOR THE MOST COINS: Promoting YouNow by inviting friends to come and login to YouNow. Use the sharing features and earn Coins for each person that came to the site from your Facebook post, Twitter Tweet, Email, Tumblr link, etc.
2. Inbox
You will be informed of important updates & news right on YouNow.com.
3. New Voting Logic
Voting will be changed to give all users one vote per minute, with the option to change back and forth, at no cost in Coins. We call this “Toggle Voting.” This will establish a much fairer system of voting that will more beneficial for all users.
4. Bye Bye Points… Hello Coins!
We are introducing YouNow Coins and Points will no longer be available. (NOTE: THIS IS OK, don’t worry! Voting and Chatting are now free!).
