So long and farewell to August. And HELLLLOOO September! At YouNow, ushering in a new month means one thing, NEW REWARDS! 

HOW DO I EARN REWARDS?

In September we will reward you for recruiting new users. What exactly does that mean? Let me break it down for you.

We reward users that recruit new registered users to the YouNow community DURING THE MONTH OF SEPTEMBER. The concept is easy - the more NEW users you refer to YouNow AND who BECOME YOUNOW MEMBERS the more rewards you get!

There are 2 ways to recruit new users:

      1.  While broadcasting: Any new user that comes to the site and registers during your broadcast is automatically credited to you as a recruit, whether you invited them or not! So the more you broadcast and spread the word, the more recruits you gain.

      2.  By sharing and inviting users: Every time you post a link using the “Share” button, (by tweeting, publishing a link to a YouNow broadcast or profile page via Facebook, etc.) it contains a unique reference to you as the originator of the link.  This unique URL gives you credit for every time a new user comes to the site and becomes a YouNow member through the link you’ve shared.

You will be able to view the number of new gained at any time in your “My Stats” page:

The number of recruits gained will also be displayed at the end of each broadcast.

And you can easily find out how many recruits you earned in between sessions in your inbox.

Additionally, the total number of recruits a user has gained will appear in the area below the video screen every 2 minutes.

SO HOW MANY RECRUITS DO I NEED TO GET TO EARN PRIZES?

Our new interface takes a personalized and organized approach to displaying the channels which are best suited for you.

Channel Discovery: Viewing

1. “Channels” 
This area includes 5 channels that we recommend to you based on your behavior on the site, where your friends are, and what will be most exciting to you. Enjoy!

2. “Categories”
Below these 5 recommended channels, you can find all other YouNow channels organized neatly into categories. Simply click on a category to have it expand and display the channels it houses.

3. “Favs”
The “Favs” tab displays the channels you have marked as your favorites, allowing you to access them easily at any time! To favorite a channel, simply click the heart icon and it will appear in the “Favs” tab. 

Channel Discovery - Broadcasting

We also implemented some key adjustments to the Broadcasting Channel Selection Screen, adding a little bit of personality - your personality!  

1. See Recommended Channels to Broadcast In
The first category “For You” will display both recommended channels based on site activity and channels you’ve favorited

2. Browse Channels by Category
Much like the Channel Discovery Interface for viewing broadcasts, the Broadcast Channel Selection Screen displays all the channels in categories. 

3. Preview Live Broadcasts before selecting a Channel
Want to find out whats going down in a channel before broadcasting in it? Now you can! Simply click the broadcaster’s thumbnail to preview the current broadcaster.

4. Find Your Friends & Fans
We’ve added another column that displays how many of your Facebook friends & YouNow fans are present in each channel. If you’d rather broadcast in front of your friends & fans, simply sort by clicking the Friends & Fans column to find which channel they’re in.

The tutorial is a simple walkthrough of YouNow’s basic features: channel discovery, voting system, chatting, and the queue. This will appear only for new users, but current users can head over to the drop-down menu for a refresher course.

The 24 hour broadcast. It is a feat that many have tried but only a few have been able to accomplish. The next brave soul in line to take down the 24 hour broadcast is none other than the magical elf herself, Leda!     

Join Leda August 15th at 5pm EDT / 2pm PDT on younow.com/talk2 as she broadcasts for an entire day! Throughout her broadcast Leda will be inviting friends, guests, and fellow YouTubers to broadcast. Leda will also be providing live make up tutorials and even whipping up a couple of meals.

Are you a talented video maker? Do you enjoy watching and talking about awesome YouNow broadcasts? If this is you, you should enter our contest to become YouNow’s Next Top Video Host!

Each week we upload an Epic Top 5 Countdown video to our YouTube channel, highlighting some of the most interesting/funny/entertaining broadcasts from that week on YouNow. These videos have been hosted by Cody-Ann Palmer, Angel Gonzalez, and most recently, the one and only Donovan “The Prince” Santiago.

1. Create a sample Recap Video, highlighting the “best” 3 YouNow broadcasts of this week, using these 3 sample videos here.  
2. Upload your video to YouTube
3. Submit your video to LoadnVote by entering the URL for your YouTube video in your submission here, between the dates August 10-August 20th.
4. After the “Loading” period, you will have 7 days where the community will vote on your video. During this voting period, you will be able to monitor your progress on LoadnVote’s contest leaderboard.
5. The winner will be announced on August 27th. 

WHAT WILL I GET IF I WIN?

The winner will get a 3-month contract with YouNow to host Top 5 Countdown videos, a featured spot on YouNow’s YouTube channel, and the exposure that comes with hosting our weekly videos. Oh, and $250 for each month hosting the YouNow weekly videos! 

REQUIREMENTS

1. Your video must be uploaded to YouTube, then posted on LoadnVote
2. The video should be no longer than 5 minutes in length
3. You must use material from these 10 videos to create your Top 5 Countdown.
4. Be creative! We want to see your best ideas & your personality shine through!

Ultimately, the winner will be determined by the YouNow staff, and entries will be judged based on their production value, creativity, and the personality / stage presence of the host.

So you think you can dance eh? Well then… PROVE IT on YouNow’s Dance Off hosted by Johnni Riddlin for a chance to win a YouNow prize package! The Dance Off will be this Saturday October 20th at 3pm EDT, 12pm PDT, 8pm BST on YouNow.com/Dance.

This week we are putting the power in the viewers hands by allowing those watching to pick the winner! Viewers will choose who makes it to the top three, and who will take home the Dance Off prize package. 

Dance Off Rules:

• Those competing in the Dance Off will have one hour to strut their stuff! 
• Whether you’re belly dancing or free styling, all dance styles are fair game. 
• Each broadcast is given a TWO MINUTES and is limited to one song, but feel free to jump back into the queue as often as possible.
• After one hour, the top three dancers will face off. Finalists are chosen based on skill, entertainment factor and originality.

Wondering how to further interact with your fans, in addition to your broadcasts? In “My Stats,” there is a space for you to send a message to all of your fans - all at once! 

1. Select “My Stats” from the dropdown menu

To celebrate the return of Glee, this week’s challenge will focus on the Gleek inside. From Whitney to Adele, even the King of Pop Michael Jackson, Glee have done it all!

Contestants will log in via Facebook and sing a song covered by theGLEE CAST for a chance to win a YouNow prize package!

The Karaoke challenge is a live weekly competition hosted by James Jones every Wednesday at 3pm EDT, 8pm BST on YouNow.com/karaoke. 

If one day of Karaoke is not enough, join James Cogle same time, same place this Friday!

What are the rules of Karaoke?

• For two hours, each broadcaster is allowed to sing 1 song per broadcast, however you can get back in the queue as often as possible.

Do I need to have background music?

• By definition, Karaoke songs have an instrumental backing track, having musical accompaniment is highly encouraged, however a cappella is also acceptable.
• Check out these free backing tracks from the karaoke channel on youtube.

What if I get voted off before my song is over?

• Each broadcaster is guaranteed 2 mins, if you are voted off after the two minutes, get back in the queue and try again.

Challenge #2 – 3:40-4:20pmEST (8:40-9:20pmGMT) – TOY STORY- Tell us a story using toys, stuffed animals and other playthings. Provide the voices of these characters and narrate the story!

Challenge #3 – 4:20-5pmEST (9:20-10pmGMT) – COSTUME CHALLENGE!  Dress up anyway you want to and show off your wardrobe. Multiple costumes are welcome!

The Extra Credit Challenge- National Anthem- Sing a brilliant version of  your national anthem! (This challenge can be done at any time during the show).

The Are You Super? Show  took place in the Shows 2 channel on YouNow.com. Hosted by Donovan “The Prince” Santiago, the main challenge of Are You Super? was simple: be a superhero or villain. Contestants could create their own hero or villain or impersonate one that is already created.
